The proceeds from a community fundraiser sponsored by the Fred Beans Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership last October was put into the hands of the Central Bucks West Football Parents Club on April 6. The $1,800 check, which benefits the high school’s football and cheerleading programs, was presented by Tony Satterthwaite, GM of the Fred Beans facility on Sawmill and North Easton roads in Doylestown, to J. Kevin Munnelly, principal of CBWest.
“I really do appreciate the wonderful things the Parents Club has done on fundraising,” said Munnelly, noting how difficult it has become to raise money for student activities. Referring to the Beans organization, he said, “I’m glad there are commercial people in the community who can help us.”
For the Drive One 4UR School event last fall, licensed drivers 18 years of age and older were invited to test drive one of the new Ford models made available from the Fred Beans showroom. For every test drive, Ford Lincoln Mercury paid a sum to the school program, up to $6,000 for the seven-hour event. The Parents Club is already planning another Drive One 4UR School fundraiser for fall 2010.
The Beans organization has always maintained close ties with the Central Bucks School District. Besides cooperating on fundraisers and activities like this one, for the past 11 years the automotive group has mentored select business students from all three district high schools through valuable hands-on experiences at the various dealerships and subsidiaries in the Doylestown-based company.
