As participating dealers in the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia’s “Driving Away the Cold” campaign, Fred Beans and several other area dealerships fulfilled their pledges to buy a brand new winter coat for an underprivileged child each time they sold a vehicle in September. And on Monday, October 17, they helped deliver 557 of the 22,548 new winter coats to the Central Bucks Family YMCA for local children in need.

On Tuesday, October 18, the Y will host the Coats for Our Kids distribution on a first come, first serve basis—first to its financial assistance members from 4 to 6pm and then to the Central Bucks community at large from 6 to 8pm and again on Wednesday, October 19, from 4 to 6pm. The new children’s coats in sizes 3T and up will be in the Y’s Community Room at 2500 Lower State Rd, Doylestown. Contact Jill Fairchild, 215.348.8131 x1123, with any questions.

Driving Away the Cold is a philanthropic program started in January of 2008 by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation, of which we are a member. The program has one simple but very important mission—to provide new winter coats to underprivileged children living in the five-county region of Philadelphia.

Every year, the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation jump starts the annual Driving Away the Cold program with a donation of 10,000 new child-size coats to the overall effort. Next, the Foundation invites area auto dealers, such as Fred Beans Family of Dealerships ftwfbg.wpengine.com, to continue the giving by participating in a special month-long campaign titled WE PLEDGE. This year, WE PLEDGE month took place in September. The nearly 23,000 coats collected brings the organization’s four-year total to more than 79,000.
