It may be remembered by some as the football game before “that October nor’easter that dumped 6 inches of snow on Doylestown.” Or as the football game when all the Central Bucks West players wore pink socks for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

But there are a lot of people who will remember the October 28, 2011, CB West-Quakertown football game for the half-time presentation on War Memorial Field in Doylestown of over $7 thousand from Ford Motor Company and Fred Beans Family of Dealerships to the CB West Football program.

The amounts — $6,000 and $1440, respectively — represent the donations from both organizations for the school’s third Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser, held this past August.

“It is our pleasure to present, on our own and Ford’s behalf, $7,440 to the Central Bucks West Football Parents Club,” said Fred Beans, president. “Congratulations to the parents, players, band and cheerleaders who ran this event with such success. And our appreciation to the people of the community who supported this event by coming out to take a test drive.”

On August 26 between 11am and 7pm, 372 people took test drives of new Ford and Lincoln cars and trucks as part of the CB West Football Parents Club’s third year of participation in Ford Motor Company’s Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser. Ford promised to donate $20 for each qualified test drive, up to 300 drives for a maximum of $6,000. Fred Beans pledged to pay $20 for all qualified test drives over 300, up to another 100 drives for a maximum of $2,000.

Fred Beans Ford Lincoln was the partner dealership for the August event, supplying 21 Fords and Lincolns cars and trucks, as well as supervising drivers from the dealership’s sales team.

The donated funds will be shared with the school’s band and cheerleading programs. In 2010, the DO4URS test-drive event raised $4,660 with 233 test drives; the year before, the club raised $1,800 with 90 test drives.
