The number of families approved for financial assistance or scholarships by the YMCA has increased by 21% in 2016 and Fred Beans stepped in to help cover these additional costs. Last week, Fred Beans Automotive donated $10,000 for local area children to go to one of the many camps offered by the YMCA, and has pledged to donate towards the camps for the next 3 years.
Fred Beans Automotive’s Vice President, Beth Beans Gilbert, was able to take a tour of the YMCA, see the camp programs and meet with some of the Y kids before presenting the donation. Fred Beans is always looking for new ways to support the community so they were proud and honored to be able to help in a hands-on way in giving kids a great summer. The summer camps help build new skills, raise self esteem, and creates lasting friendships.
“Thanks to the continued support of the Fred Beans Organization, 44 children ages 3 to 14 will be given the opportunity to have the best summer ever at CBFYMCA Summer camp, regardless of circumstances at home. Campers can choose to participate in week long programs such as Girls on the Move, cooking, fishing, basketball, baseball, tennis, swimming, reading and math, just to name a few. These camps provide a fun safe place for all kids to learn and express their creativity while helping them to develop confidence, build life-long friendships and make memories,” said Rachel Mauer from the Central Bucks Family YMCA.
