Helping others cope with hardships

The Fred Beans Hardship Committee, an employee group that raises funds and disburses them to co-workers who are experiencing financial difficulties or other hardship, raised $7,109 with its annual Holiday Raffle. A huge selection of items are generously donated by employees, vendors and other local businesses—products, services, gift cards and other items—then raffled off to employees during the fun and exciting “holiday shopping” event held in December.

The devastating illness in 2001 of a long-time employee spurred an outpouring of generosity from coworkers and friends at Fred Beans stores in Doylestown. It also prompted the creation of the Hardship Committee to aid employees and their families who are going through difficulties. The Fred Beans Employee Hardship Fund provides assistance in the form of loans, donations and other help during especially trying times.

The committee and all Fred Beans employees thank all those who contributed to and participated in this year’s raffle. Your generosity makes it possible for us to do so much.
