Hardly a week passes that we don’t read in the newspaper, hear from a friend or receive in an email the warning that the shelves at many area food pantries are disconcertingly understocked. In fact, several times this summer—in the midst of harvest plenty, mind you—we received reports that one or another food pantry could not open for lack of food to distribute. Just think of those who had come to depend on their local food bank for help in putting a healthy meal on the table for their families.
Thinking of those who were turned away, we’ve decided to make an even larger effort than we usually do this time of year as we support the Bucks County Council Boy Scouts of America Scouting for Food Campaign at our Doylestown stores now through December.
Collection boxes were delivered to stores this week. We’re urging customers and employees alike to bring as many canned and non-perishable boxed food products, baby formula and baby diapers as they can so we can schedule a pre-Thanksgiving delivery. Then, won’t you please make another drop off at any Doylestown Fred Beans location in early December to help the Scouts stock our area food pantries to the ceiling for the winter holidays and on into the coldest and hardest days of the year?
Thank you for helping us help others.
