West Chester Wolfpack Rugby Team held its first Lincoln Drive Smart for Your School test-drive fundraiser on Sunday, October 21, at the Bayard Rustin High School – and looks to net as much as $2400 in donations from Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln Division for the efforts of the team members, parents and coaches.
Event partner Fred Beans Ford Lincoln of West Chester brought about eight brand new Lincolns – including MKXs, MKZs and Navigators – to the high school for people to take on a short test-drive loop accompanied by a Fred Beans driver. A key feature of the program is its no-pressure, no-sales-pitch, no-obligation approach. The goal is to collect feedback about the vehicles and give people of the community an opportunity to support the school’s rugby program.
For each qualified test drive – drivers must be licensed, 18 years of age or older and just one to a household is eligible – Lincoln will donate $20, up to $6,000. The event’s unofficial count was 120 test drives.
The Wolfpack Rugby Club team formed in 2011, when the three West Chester Area School District high schools consolidated their three boys rugby teams – Henderson, Rustin and East – into one. The consolidation allows the team to compete more effectively at the league level and optimizes the use of district resources such as practice fields and gyms. The team’s head coach is Lou Raymond.
