Fred Beans purchases Freysinger’s three dealerships in Mechanicsburg,
adds collision center in New Cumberland
Mechanicsburg, Pa. - The Fred Beans Automotive Group has purchased three Mechanicsburg dealerships and one auto body shop from Freysinger Automotive. As of Monday, Oct. 28, Freysinger’s GMC/Buick, Hyundai and Mazda dealerships are operating under the Fred Beans name, and the Freysinger Body Shop is CARSTAR Fred Beans New Cumberland.
“We knew the Fred Beans Automotive Group was the right steward for our company, community and employees,” said Garry Freysinger, who has worked in the family business for 41 years and today serves as secretary/treasurer of Freysinger Automotive. His brother, Tom Freysinger, is president and has a 54-year tenure.
Both Fred Beans Automotive Group and Freysinger Automotive are multi-generational family businesses, and coincidentally, both began with a spirited entrepreneur owning a gas station. Fred Beans made his gas station purchase in 1959 using a loan co-signed by his mother. Garry and Tom’s grandfather, Wayne, purchased his station in 1924.
“As soon as I met Fred, he reminded me of my grandfather,” emphasized Garry Freysinger. “We were not looking to sell, but the similarities between Fred and my grandfather, including a commitment to family and a passion and professionalism to succeed, gave us confidence that this sale is a positive move for the future of our dealerships.”
He further emphasized that the strong involvement of Fred Beans’ daughter, Beth Beans Gilbert, and son-in-law, Chris Gilbert, in addition to grandchildren, provided additional peace of mind that the dealerships were in good hands for years to come.

The Fred Beans Automotive Group already operates two dealerships in Mechanicsburg, Fred Beans Ford and Fred Beans Kia, as well as a CARSTAR, which provides quality collision services at the hands of I-CAR certified technicians.
