The Fred Beans Automotive Group has set another ambitious end-of-year goal to provide 50,000 meals through both food and monetary donations. In December, Fred Beans will set aside a percentage of every sale and service bill for food pantries in areas where the automotive group operates. The company also will collect nonperishable food items all month to add to the monetary donations.
Organizations receiving the donations to benefit the community are the Bucks County Opportunity Council, the Salvation Army of Boyertown, the Salvation Army of West Chester, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the Flemington Area Food Pantry and the Community Food Pantry of Washington.
“Last year, our customers and team members rose to the challenge and helped us surpass our goal by providing about 55,000 meals,” said Beth Beans Gilbert, vice president of Fred Beans Automotive Group. “This year, we look to make just as big of an impact to help our neighbors in need. Each customer who does business with us contributes to how many meals we fund, and both our customers and team members are invited to help us fill food bins placed throughout our dealerships and service centers.”
“We are grateful for the partnership with Fred Beans to help us meet significant needs in our community,” said Joseph Cuozzo, director of development for the Bucks County Opportunity Council. “The cost of food continues to go up, so we are seeing even more families struggling.”
Cuozzo provided some tips for those who donate food, which include checking expiration dates, choosing items with a long shelf life and including spices and oils needed for cooking but not always available in the kitchens of people receiving food donations.
