Doylestown, Pa– Across Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties, 864 children will receive a brand-new winter coat - and a boost of comfort and confidence - thanks to Fred Beans Automotive Group. The coats are distributed through the annual Driving Away the Cold program, organized by the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation in partnership with local dealers.

Fred Beans Automotive Group is a longtime participant. Since the launch of Driving Away the Cold in 2008, the Doylestown-based dealer has donated tens of thousands of coats to area children in need.

This year, participating Fred Beans dealerships coordinated coat deliveries to the following locations for distribution:

  • Chester County - Greater Brandywine YMCA locations, 144 coats
  • Bucks County - McDonald Elementary (Centennial School District) and Bensalem School District, 624 coats
  • Montgomery County - North Penn School District Educational Foundation, 96 coats

“We have participated in this coat drive every year, because every child should have a new, warm coat, and we want to make that happen in the areas we serve,” said Beth Beans Gilbert, vice president of Fred Beans Automotive Group. “Our team members also share in that responsibility and often volunteer to help deliver and unpack the coats.”

Fred Beans is one of approximately 180 automotive dealers located in the Greater Philadelphia region to participate in this year’s Driving Away the Cold program. Now in year 19, the program has provided more than 725,000 brand-new coats, distributed through a network of about 100 social services agencies, YMCAs, homeless shelters, school districts and other organizations that help with distribution.
