Okay, so although mileage isn't the most important factor, you'll still want to have an idea of what to look out for. When it comes to a used vehicle, you'll want a car that's had about 8-10k miles per year. Just take the number of miles on the car and divide by the car's age, and voila - you'll get an idea of average mileage per year.
Reliability, Warranties, Maintenance
When it comes to reliability, you'll want to keep an eye out for historical issues that certain model years of cars might have. Does a particular model year of brand have a notorious engine issue around a certain milage number? Are there certain other problems that arise when driven in certain climates? The above-mentioned are a few things to consider.
As far as warranties go, you'll want to know whether the car is still under any kind of warranty from the original manufacturer. Is the ten-year powertrain warranty still relevant? Are other parts still under coverage?
Last but not least we have maintenance. Has the vehicle been consistently serviced, or has it gone a long period of time without service? You'll want the former to the case instead of the latter.
