Maintaining hybrid and electric vehicles is different than maintaining a gasoline only car. While the types of routine maintenance and repair items will be different, depending on which hybrid or EV you have, there are similar regular maintenance services that should be performed. These include:
- Fluid Checks, Flushes, and Replacements – All vehicles, no matter what their powertrain, have certain fluids that should be regularly inspected and replaced. These range from the brake fluid and coolant to windshield washer fluid and (if you have a hybrid) the oil.
- Tire Inspections, Rotations, and Alignments – Making sure that your car's tires have the right pressure, tread depth, and condition is key to an excellent drive. Routine tire rotations and as needed wheel alignments should be performed to ensure an efficient and safe Pennsylvania commute.
- Brake Service – Most hybrid and electric vehicles come with a regenerative braking system. This system will need to be inspected and maintained as well as the normal brake pads, rotors, and fluid.
- Battery Service – When you're driving an electric or hybrid vehicle, you'll want to make sure that the battery is working as it should. There will most likely be multiple batteries, so be sure to check each one and replace as needed.
